About us
“KeepMyStreetGreen” is a local effort to save our Oceans from Plastic Pollution by doing it through an “Adopt A Street” Program by volunteers. This project was started as an Innovative Community Project in Parsippany, NJ by its Green Team, as part of the Sustainable Jersey goals commitment and is planning to expand into more towns in NJ.
Our mission is to keep our streets and businesses free from plastic pollution which can enter our waterways through storm drains.Our first goal, to make Parsippany the first town with 99.99% compliance in the state of NJ.To achieve this mission we will collaborate with our residents, Green Teams, environmental clubs in schools, elected officials and business community members. This will improve our quality of life and environmental sustainability of our community and our waters.
How plastic is reaching our Oceans?
ONE OF THE MAJOR SOURCES ARE LAND BASED SOURCES LIKE…STORM DRAINS
- Plastic litter all around the street doesn’t remain there. Rainwater and the blustering wind carries plastic litter to storm drains and streams, and then into rivers, which go ultimately end up into the oceans
- When you throw your plastic garbage into the bin, instead of recycling it, it gets transferred to landfills. It can get blown away into drains, and come into rivers and seas this way
- This explains how vital it is to keep our streets clean and green, as well as to protect our storm drains from plastics.
How our streets are responsible?
This is a very common sight in our streets. During the last 100 years, we have engineered our streets to keep them free from flooding.
However, we have created thousands of miles of storm drain highways, which carry millions of gallons of water into streams and oceans. The same engineering marvels, because of our negligence, are carrying millions of pieces of plastic debris into our oceans.
How you can help protect the oceans?
Protect storm drains from plastic pollution:
To keep our storm drains free from plastic debris and other hazardous materials, volunteers will be picking plastic debris monthly under the “Adopt A Street” program. Keeping clean streets is not only a street beautification program, it is a program to save our next generations too.

- Volunteers pickup Plastic Debris by Walk/Bike once a Week(Yes, Once a Week can produce good results.)
- Log recovered item details via Mobile App
- Educate residents to observe and clean post recycle pickup if any spill overs occur
We have a seamless mobile app to track and log volunteer activities.
You may not be able to fix the whole Ocean Pollution.
But you can at least fix your own Street pollution.
