programs
Currently below programs are added in the digital App.
Our mission is to collaborate with our residents, town government and business community to identify and implement programs that improve our quality of life and the physical, environmental and financial sustainability of our community.
Adopt a Street
A local effort to save our Oceans from Plastic Pollution by doing it through an “Adopt A Street” Program by volunteers. This project is started as an Innovative Community Project in Parsippany, NJ by its Green Team, as part of the sustainable Jersey goals commitment
(https://www.sustainablejersey.com/) and is planning to expand to more towns in NJ.
The main objective of “Adopt a street program” is:
- Protect Storm Drains from plastic pollution: To keep our storm
drains free from plastic debris and other hazardous materials, which are
infiltrating through our storm drains and to water streams to oceans,
volunteers will be picking plastic debris monthly under ’Adopted street’
a program.
Keeping clean streets is not a street beautification program, it is a program to protect our oceans and save our next generations too.
Adopt a Location
Earthday Cleanup
The goal of Earth Day Cleanup is to provide a volunteer experience and environmental education to Parsippany residents. This annual event involves cleaning Parsippany parks, neighbourhoods, watersheds and water bodies. Since the inception of the Earth Day cleanup, we have removed an incredible amount of garbage from the surroundings.
Help make Parsippany a cleaner, better place!
Group Cleanup Activities
Want to help us achieve a cleaner, healthier Parsippany and its surrounding?
Roll up your sleeves and join us!
The Group cleanups are not merely beautifying efforts, but lifesavers. Plastic and other ocean debris can be fatal to the marine life that encounters it, either after it’s left on the beach and washes out to sea, or washes back out after having been carried out initially via storm water runoff, wind, illegal dumping, or ocean littering.
Individuals and small groups are invited to join us at our monthly Community River Cleanups, beach cleanups that take place on weekends in different communities. We are always looking for more volunteers and more spots in need of cleanup!
Audit a Street/Loc
Audit Street/Loc programs goal is to identify bad storm drains which do not have graters and prone to higher plastic debris leakages.
As per our experimental project and the number of volunteers feedbacks as per their observations, it was identified a lot of plastic debris like (bottles/cans/wrappers) already infiltrated to these drains and the problem is much visible where the drains do not have appropriate graters to prevent these leakages and identified items like gallon-size plastic cans of water or milk infiltrated from some of these drains.
How: We are planning to coordinate with volunteers and audit thru our iVolunteer digital app. A volunteer will upload images of bad storm drains pics(with geocode details). After completing the entire town, will provide a comprehensive report to our Mayor/Towncouncil team to take measurable action by planning and fixing these street infrastructures issues and preventing the leakages of plastic debris and address this Ocean Pollution at the street level.
Audit a Streams
Audit a Streams program is to identify the potential plastic debris leakages at minor streams(Like small tunnels) and entering into main water streams, rivers, meadows and build suitable prevention methods where we can stop this plastic debris from entering our major streams.
How: We are planning to coordinate with volunteers and audit thru our iVolunteer digital app. A volunteer will upload images of potential locations of pics(with geocode details). After completing the entire town, will provide a comprehensive report to our Mayor/Towncouncil team to take measurable action by planning and fixing these water streams infrastructures issues and preventing the leakages of plastic debris from the next source of entering into our water streams.
This approach will help the second level of protection after streets.
Green Challenge Program
- Audit a Street by capturing all unsafe storm drain images(to environment).
- Upload using iVolunteer App.
- Challenge is to complete the audit of Parsippany township.
- It includes a total of 900+ streets and 100+ business locations by Aug15th through volunteers like you.
- Volunteers completing 10+ streets will be recognized by the Parsippany Green Team and students can earn “Community Service” hours.
